Olpe, a city in Lyon County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 548. It is part of the Emporia Micropolitan Statistical Area. Olpe was named for the Westphalia, Germany town of the same name. It had formerly been known as Eagle Creek Station before the name had been changed to Bitler Town for the owner of the townsite, Gilbert Bitler. The new townsite located north of the railroad tracks was named Olpe by Auguste Flusche in honor of the immigrants from Wesphalia who settled the townsite. ^source
